Phil Jackson, coach of the L.A. Lakers probably asked himself and others, "How can I start a coaching basketball career?" at some time in his life. He played basketball, baseball and football in high school at Williston, North Dakota. His playing ability was spotted by a couple of scouts, who gave the info to future NBA coach Bill Fitch, who helped give Phil his start with the NBA. He played basketball in North Dakota for the Sigma Alpha Epsilon as well as moving on to play for the Knicks and then the Nets before he retired in 1980.
